What flexibility really costs

The most honest comparison is between equivalent plans. For plans with unlimited data and unlimited calls, the cheapest plan with no minimum term (Salt Start Max) currently costs CHF 13.95, the cheapest with 24 months contract term (Post Mobile Start) CHF 11.95.

The flexibility comes at a cost, then CHF 2.00 per month or around CHF 24 per year. Whether this pays off is a simple calculation: if you want to switch even once within the two years — due to moving, a better offer or poor network — the extra cost is quickly offset.

The second cost factor is less visible: with promotional plans that include a contract term, the advertised price often only applies for the duration of the contract. After that, the regular price kicks in, which can be a multiple of the original price. Anyone who doesn't actively switch keeps paying quietly — that's exactly what Switch instead of renewing.

No minimum term doesn't mean you can cancel immediately

A contract with no minimum term can still have a Notice period have — the end of the month or 30 days are common. For contracts with a minimum term, however, 60 days (two months) before expiry is common in Switzerland; if you miss the deadline, it often renews automatically. Anyone who opts for a contract term should mark the contract end date in their calendar — including the cancellation period. Providers won't remind you.
