Who is Salt?
Salt Mobile SA (formerly 2015 Orange) is Switzerland's third-largest mobile provider and one of only three providers with its own nationwide network. Salt is known primarily for aggressively priced promotions: unlimited plans are regularly available here at prices for which other providers only offer a few gigabytes.
The plan portfolio ranges from an affordable entry-level plan to the Europe Max package with generous EU roaming. Those willing to commit for 24 months will almost always find one of the best price-performance ratios in Switzerland with Salt.

Pros and cons of Salt
Advantages
- Own network with around 99% 4G population coverage
- Unlimited plans regularly heavily discounted
- Large plan selection from basic plan to Europe Max
- 5G and eSIM included with most plans
Disadvantages
- The best prices are usually tied to a 24-month contract term
- Customer service only performs averagely in surveys
- Promotional prices usually apply only to new customers
How good is the network?
Salt operates its own mobile network and is therefore one of the three licensed Swiss network operators (alongside Swisscom and Sunrise). 4G coverage stands at around 99% of the population, with 5G expansion concentrated in cities and agglomerations. In regions where the Sunrise network is weaker, Salt is often the better alternative — it's worth checking the coverage map for your own location before signing up.
Who is Salt worthwhile for?
- Heavy users who want unlimited data at a low price
- Price-conscious users for whom a 24-month commitment is not a problem
- Anyone with good Salt coverage at their home address
Anyone who wants maximum flexibility (no minimum term) or relies on the best coverage in remote areas may be better off with Wingo or Lebara.
