Short answer
In Switzerland, there are currently 72 mobile plans with unlimited data, cheapest offer: Post Mobile Start for CHF 11.95 per month.
Unlimited refers to the data allowance on the Swiss network. Speed, hotspot use and roaming can still be limited — the most important difference between plans.
Yallo — unlimited with every plan
We recommend Yallo as the overall package: not as the cheapest provider, but as the one with the consistently best features in relation to price. Anyone who doesn't want to optimise every franc individually, but wants to sign up properly once, is best served here.
- 5G and eSIM included with all 18 plans.
- Biggest price advantage in comparison: black max for CHF 34.90 instead of CHF 135.00 — CHF 100.10 below the regular price.
- Runs on the Sunrise network with over 99 % 4G population coverage — network quality like the parent company, at a discount price.
- Starting from CHF 19.90 per month (Yallo Swiss Data).

What «unlimited» really means in Switzerland
Unlimited always refers to the Data allowance in the Swiss network: You can surf as much as you want without extra gigabytes being charged. Three things remain limited, though, and that's exactly where the plans differ:
- Speed: Cheap unlimited plans are often permanently capped at a maximum speed. For streaming and video calls, this is usually sufficient without any problems — only when downloading large files do you notice the difference.
- Hotspot / tethering: Some plans limit the data allowance you're allowed to share with a laptop or tablet. Anyone who regularly works on the go should check this — background information in Hotspot & tethering.
- Abroad: A separate, finite allowance applies to roaming. See the guide on this Mobile plan with EU roaming.
A hard data limit followed by a block — as is common abroad under "fair use" — practically doesn't exist for domestic use on Swiss unlimited plans. Our Glossary.

Is unlimited worth it for you?
The honest answer depends on a single number: your actual usage. Currently, the cheapest unlimited plan with unlimited calls is no more expensive than the cheapest plan with a fixed data allowance — in this situation, there is little reason against unlimited.
Unlimited is worthwhile when …
- you stream, navigate or make video calls on the go
- you've already used up your allowance once
- you use the phone as a hotspot for laptop or tablet
- you don't want to check your usage every month
Probably not, if …
- you're almost always on Wi-Fi (home, office, school)
- your usage is consistently below a few GB per month
- you're looking for a pure second or emergency SIM
- you need maximum speed and a capped plan is not an option
Whether you belong to the first or second group, you'll find out in five minutes: How many GB do I need? shows where your phone displays the consumption of recent months. The fundamental trade-off is discussed Unlimited data: who really needs it?.

Only plans that include unlimited data allowance on the Swiss network count as "unlimited" here. Plans with a large but finite allowance do not appear in this list — they can be found in the full Plan comparison.
handy·abo is an offer by MARKTIX AG and is financed through referral commissions. All price and service information in the tables corresponds to the collected provider data. In case of equivalent offers — i.e. with nearly identical price and scope of services — we list partner providers first; the provider highlighted as «Editorial recommendation» is an editorial assessment and not the result of a purely computational evaluation. Where the text refers to the «cheapest» plan, it always means the actually cheapest one. Details in the Affiliate disclosure.
