The most expensive cost traps — and how to avoid them

A few situations can blow any holiday budget if you don't know about them:

• Kreuzfahrt- und Fähren-Netze: At sea, a satellite network on board takes over — by far the most expensive roaming category. As soon as the ship departs: flight mode on, use only the ship's Wi-Fi.

• Parents' phones: One device with a solid roaming package or included GB as the «workhorse» for navigation, reservations and emergencies. The second parent's phone can be equipped more sparingly.
